Extra Innings offers individualized, year round professional baseball and softball instruction. Our staff uses a uniform step-by-step teaching system to encourage positive progress with all our students.

The Extra Innings staff features former and current professional players, college all-stars, and area college and high school coaches.

Coach Michael Hubbs

Michael has joined Extra Innings as the head of baseball operations. From 2004 through 2007, Michael was the Assistant Baseball Coach with SUNY Cortland, where he is presently completing his Master’s in Science & Teaching (MST Degree). Prior to joining the coaching staff at SUNY Cortland, Coach Hubbs had a successful pitching career including being a part of Cortland’s Division III World Series team in 2001. In addition, he was named SUNYAC Pitcher of the Year for 2003 & 2004; and named New York Region Pitcher of the Year in 2003. Coach Hubbs has worked with local baseball organizations such as the Saratoga Phillies and South Troy Dodgers. Coach Hubbs is available for private pitching instruction as well as coaching many of Extra Innings youth baseball and softball clinics.

Coach Virgil Chevalier

Virgil Chevalier is the senior instructor for both baseball and softball with Extra Innings. Virgil played nine years of professional baseball in the Boston Red Sox and NY Mets organizations (1995 – 2003) with the last four years at Triple AAA Pawtucket (Red Sox) and Norfolk (Mets). Virgil’s versatility allowed him to excel in playing catcher, first base, third base, and the outfield. His career minor league totals included a batting average of .274; a slugging percentage of .411; with 961 career hits, 80 home runs, and 516 RBI’s. Since 2003, Coach Chevalier has successfully taught hundreds of youth and senior league baseball and softball enthusiasts in the great Capital District. Coach Chevalier is now available exclusively for private lessons at Extra Innings.

 
Deanna Parks

Instructor - Coach Deanna Parks

We are excited to introduce to you, the Extra Innings Head Softball Coach, Deanna Parks.  Deanna experience finds her entering her second season as head coach for the Siena Saints.  Before Siena, Parks coaching experience has included being Head Coach with SUNY Oneonta, where she guided the Red Dragons to the SUNYAC Tournament; and Head Coach at the University of Akron; winning 30 or more games three times during her tenure, making five MAC tournament appearances; and ultimately winning two regular season titles (1998 and 2002) during her stay.

Parks is a 1988 graduate of Kent State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism while starring for the Golden Flashes softball team. A First Team All-MidEast Region player in 1986 and All-MAC selection in 1987, Parks still holds the Kent State record for career bases on balls (79) and triples in a season (eight in 1985). She earned a Master of Arts degree in sport administration in 1995 from KSU and was inducted into the University's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996.

Coach Parks is available exclusively at Extra Innings for both individual and group hitting, slapping, bunting, and defensive skills lessons. 

 

Instructor – Coach Michelle Norwich

Coach Michelle Norwich was a former Assistant Coach for Herkimer County Community College and now a resident of the Capital District.  During the past two summers, Michelle traveled oversees to Holland and Italy to play softball for the American International Sports Tour.

Michelle earned a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta where she was a four-year starter for the Oneonta softball team.  Michelle started in 140 games and served as team captain for her junior and senior years.  In Michelle’s senior year (2004), she was instrumental in helping her team capture the SUNYAC Championship and earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament.  Michelle led the team in batting average as a sophomore (.358), junior (.376), and in her senior year with an average of .354.  Michelle also ranks in SUNY Oneonta’s career top-ten for at-bats, hits, doubles, total bases, runs scored, and RBI’s.  Michelle’s college career included being named to the SUNYAC All-Conference Team (2004, 2005, 2006); and the NCAA Northeast Regional All-Tournament Team and was selected ECAC All-Star, NYSWCAA All-State, SUNYAC Player of the Weak, and the NFCA Northeast Regional All-American second team (2005), and third team (2006).

Michelle now provides private softball lessons and clinics working exclusively for Extra Innings as both a hitting coach and catching/fielding coach.

 
Jackie Hall

Instructor – Coach Jackie Hall

Coach Jackie Hall is a pitching and hitting instructor for Extra Innings.  Coach Hall is also the pitching coach for the Skidmore Thoroughbreds.  The Thoroughbreds added Jackie Hall to the staff in 2007 to work with pitchers.  She has coached at Galway Central School and Saratoga Central Catholic and in 2003 and 2005, respectively.  Coach Hall, an established pitcher, dominated on the mound at Adirondack Community College in 2001 and 2002.  A 2000 graduate from Saratoga Central Catholic where many of her pitching records still remain, is a certified Physical Education teacher, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from Sage Collage of Albany. 

Coach Hall is available exclusively at Extra Innings working both weekdays and weekends for private and group lessons.

 
Instructor – Matt McMahon

Instructor – Coach Matt McMahon

Coach McMahon is a baseball coach with the Burnt-Hills / Ballston Lake Central School District. A graduate of Sage College with a BS in Physical Education, Matt is currently completing his MS in Sports Psychology. As a member of the Association of Minor League Umpires, Matt has umpired games in the NY-Penn League and throughout New York State. Matt has also been the Umpire Crew Chief/Instructor for the Cooperstown Dreams Park. Matt’s experience as a currently rated NCAA Division I, II, and III umpire as well as being on the reserve list for the Carolina, International, and NY-Penn leagues offers Extra Innings his unique and specialized experience for youth & umpire instruction.

 
Coach Laura Rogers

Instructor – Coach Laura Rogers

A 2004 graduate of Schuylerville High School, Coach Laura Rogers was selected Saratoga Player of the Year in 2004 and was named to the All-State Team in both 2003 and 2004. As a player at Hudson Valley Community College, Coach Rogers, a pitcher and shortstop, was named team captain and became an All-American selection in 2006. After HVCC, Laura played for Castleton State College and was named 1st Team All NAC (North Atlantic Conference). Coach Rogers specializes in our Youth Softball instructional programs and is available for private lessons.

 
Coach Kelly Meilstrup

Instructor – Coach Kelly Meilstrup

Coach Kelly Meilstrup is a hitting, catching, and fielding instructor with Extra Innings. Growing up in Southern California, Coach Meilstrup played for the Orange County (Worth) Firecrackers, one of the most competitive travel softball clubs in the US. Coach Meilstrup received a full scholarship to the University of North Carolina Tar Heels where she became the youngest Captain of the team as a sophomore. Batting fifth in a Division 1 competitive lineup, Coach Meilstrup was named both 1st Team All South-East and 3rd Team All-American. Coach Meilstrup played outfield, catcher, third base, and first base.
